Floodwater may contain contaminants
Water entering from outdoors, drains or sewage systems should not be treated like a clean supply-line leak. Low-lying Delta properties may also need the source of repeated water entry addressed before interior repairs begin.
Plan for safe removal and drying
- Do not enter standing water near electrical service or equipment.
- Ask how contaminated materials will be contained and removed.
- Request moisture documentation and completion goals.
- Keep receipts, photographs and written communications for the claim.
